The original 9/11 was a Tuesday. It was Tuesday again on 9/11 in 2007. And today, Patriot Day 2012 is Tuesday for the third time.

The school day at LBES begins at 8:05 but this day members of the three Webelos dens assembled in the LBES cafeteria, wearing their cub scout uniforms, at 7:00. We were there to accomplish our scholarship achievement. LBES Principal Overman was our subject matter expert.

One of the first things she told us was that her son was a good scout and is now an Air Force Captain. All the students at LBES were born after 9/11; these Webelos just months after.

We will never forget the surprise attack that killed more Americans than Pearl Harbor. But we are moving out from under the long shadow of that terrible Tuesday. Putting on our uniforms and going to school an hour early is what we did on this Tuesday to heal and grow.
